Cargill donates US$100,000 to support Covid-19 relief efforts in Thailand
Bangkok, Thailand (June 15, 2021) — In line with our purpose of enriching the communities, Cargill Thailand has announced that we will provide medical equipment and PPE worth 3,000,000 baht (US$100,000) to medical institutions in Thailand in order to address the health and safety requirements to contain the spread of COVID-19. The donation will be conducted through the Agriculture and Community Development Foundation and Cargill Cares Council, a non-profit organization initiated by Cargill employees.
The equipment and supplies include oxygen concentrator, air purifier, humidifier with integrated flow generator, negative pressure isolation room, blood pressure meter, pulse oximeter, PM2.5 masks, face shields, PPE and alcohol-based hand sanitizers. These will be distributed to 6 hospitals and medical centers in Saraburi, Nakorn Ratchasima and Phatumtani provinces, benefiting more than 3,000 COVID-19 patients who are currently undergoing treatment in these hospitals.
“Our hospital has cared for COVID-19 patients in Phra Phutthabat district and nearby areas during the pandemic. We are grateful for the support from Cargill in providing us five oxygen concentrators. With these equipment, we will ensure safe and appropriate care for our COVID-19 patients,” said Thongchai Khemarattrakul, director of Phraphutthabat hospital in Saraburi, Thailand.
As a part of the response to support Thai medical workers, especially those infected and people in quarantine in this long-haul fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Cargill also provides 500 kgs of its Sun Valley protein products and eggs worth 200,000 baht (US$6,700) each month to field hospitals.
“Our business operates in the communities where thousands of our employees live and work. We are pleased to support and help the communities and medical institutions overcome challenges with our corporate responsibility initiatives. We believe that a friend in need is a friend indeed. Cargill will be a friend that Thailand can trust and grow along with,” said Watcharapon Prasopkiatpoka, Cargill’s Country Representative for Thailand.
Recently in April, Cargill delivered thermometers and hand sanitizers worth 200,000 baht (US$6,700) to 50 schools in Saraburi and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces. The contribution benefits more than 5,000 students in total. For more information, visit Cargill.co.th
