Cargill Meats Thailand produces and exports ready-to-eat chicken to more than 19 countries around the world and is one of the largest exporters of cooked chicken products in Thailand. Our customers are quick service restaurants, retail stores/outlets and food manufacturing companies. We employ more than 14,000 employees across two locations in Korat and Saraburi.
In Thailand, we have in our supply chain feed mills, hatcheries, farms and processing plants. We also have dedicated facilities to ensure the quality and safety standards of our products including one poultry health center, R&D center and central food safety lab. In late 2016, we announced a $50 million expansion of our operations to help us continue to meet growing demand for high-quality protein products. Recently, we have introduced Sun Valley, a premium chicken consumer brand in Thailand.
Animal Welfare
Our chicken farms comply with Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) as well as agricultural standards regarding good animal welfare practices and animal transport required by the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. We apply comprehensive animal welfare management and biosecurity control system complied with national and customer requirement
Employee Welfare
Cargill Meats Thailand is certified by Thai Labor Standards: Corporate Social Responsibility of Thai Business (TLS 8001), the national standard for labor rights and welfare launched by the Ministry of Labor in 2010. Recently, we have been awarded the Thailand Labor Management Excellence Award 2020 by the Department of Labor Protection Welfare. The award is in recognition of our compliance to International Labor Organization Standard, covering practices in human rights, labor management and welfare, and employee relation management.
We have won a CSR-DIW Continuous Award from the Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry for seven years consecutively since 2013. The award recognizes companies that demonstrate an outstanding continual improvement in sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Food Safety
Cargill’s protein business in Thailand operates in a fully integrated processing structure to ensure the highest quality and food safety standards are enforced. We take a comprehensive, science-and risk-based approach to food safety in our policies, processes, operations and supply chains. Cargill is constantly acknowledged as a leader in food safety in Thailand and
recognized by multiple certifications e.g. GMP, HACCP, BRC, Genesis GAP, Halal, ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001.
Product Capability and Innovation
Our broad range of products includes steam cooked, roasted, and coated chicken products. As one of our key strengths is innovation, Cargill’s innovation centers, including our R&D center in Thailand, are some of the world’s most advanced food innovation facilities. The R&D center in Saraburi has a team of about 40 food scientists that are constantly developing new products to meet customer needs. We provide customers with the expertise to explore new products and improve on existing products, in terms of taste, production efficiency and nutrition.
Sustainability
We are committed to operate a sustainable business. Our goals are to ensure food and nutrition security for people around the world, reduce environmental impact, create an inclusive workplace for our employees and emphasize responsible business conduct.
We have recently completed the installation of rooftop solar system at 4 of our feed mill and hatchery locations. The solar power plants have a combined generating capacity of 2.4 MW and are located in different locations in Lopburi, Korat and Phetchaburi. The operating sites are expected to generate over 3,000 MWh of clean electricity in a year which is equivalent to reducing 1,750 tonnes of CO2, representing perceptible efforts by Cargill to cut down greenhouse gas emissions from its operations globally.
